Shopping across borders means translating between at least four sizing systems that grew up independently. This page is the master reference: the standard published conversions for women's and men's clothing and shoes. One honest caveat before the tables — conversions translate labels, not garments. A brand's cut can move you a full size in either direction, which is why each of our brand fit guides covers how specific brands actually run.

How to use these charts
- Start from your measurements, not your usual label. Measure bust/chest, waist, and hips, then find the row that matches; our measuring guide shows exactly how.
- Convert once, then verify against the brand. Use the table to find your likely size, then confirm on the retailer's own chart before ordering.
- Shoes: trust centimeters. JP sizing is the foot length in cm, which makes it the least ambiguous system — measure your foot and work backward.

What is a US women's size 8 in UK and EU sizes?
By the standard conversion, a US women's 8 corresponds to a UK 12 and an EU 40. Individual brands can drift from this by a size in either direction, so treat it as a starting point and check the brand's own chart.
Are UK and AU clothing sizes the same?
For women's clothing, Australian sizing follows the UK numbering, so a UK 10 and an AU 10 generally describe the same size. Men's clothing in both countries is based on the same chest-in-inches system used in the US.
How do EU clothing sizes work?
EU women's sizes run in even numbers from roughly 32 to 54, sitting about 32 numbers above the equivalent US size (US 4 ≈ EU 36). EU men's sizes are approximately the chest measurement in inches plus 10 (a 40-inch chest ≈ EU 50).
Why does my converted size still not fit?
Conversion charts translate labels, not garments. Two brands can label the same measurements differently: vanity sizing, regional fit blocks, and cut all shift the result. When in doubt, compare your body measurements against the specific brand's chart rather than converting label-to-label.
